Hi, we are Simi and Amrit. Since a lot of you have joined us recently and also the fact that I don’t think we have ever formally introduced ourselves, we thought this would be the right time to do so. We are sisters, 1 year, 11 months and 1 day apart – Amrit(right) is younger, Simi(left) is older.
Simi is 31 – born August 14th , Amrit is 29, born July 15 in Delhi, and honestly lived in a lot of places over the last 30 years.
We went to boarding school in Shimla at the ages of 4 and 6 and were there until 2004-05.
We lost our dad in 2011 after an 8 year illness. He had a stroke in 2003 which left him paralyzed on the left side.
Simi wasn’t even in India when he passed, but she made it back in a day to be there with us.
Our teenage wasn’t the usual, our world revolved around ensuring our dad gets better, and also playing/practicing Basketball and Netball for our State(Delhi), Universities and schools/colleges. Amrit has always been the better player, she’s also taller. She’s 5’10 while I am 5’9
Our mom represented the Indian Basketball team, in the 1982 Asian Games held in Delhi, which is where we got our love for basketball.
We were both in JMC for our graduation, and in Punjab University, CHD for our Masters. Simi also did another masters in UK in Sports Business Management.
Post our masters, both of us have been working full time in the IT industry.
Amrit is now a Product Manager and Simi is an Implementation Coach.
From 2015-2018, Simi worked for an IT firm where she was director of operations of the company but she chose to leave that path(of working 16-18 hrs a day) and focus more on her personal life and having work life balance became her priority.
Simi now works for a firm that allows her to travel full time(pre covid, lets see what happens after)
Amrit made a resolution for 2018 to travel to a new place every month and Simi joined her in that goal. That’s how our love for travel bloomed and this page began.
Since then we have visited over 10 countries and done countless trips within India, all while working 9-5 more like 9-7. Yes it’s possible. We’ve done it.
And then 2019, Veganism happened. Simi turned vegan in April followed by Amrit in November, both for health reasons and it’s safe to say that our health is way way better.
Amrit had an injury in 2018 where her L4 and L5 discs in her back started degenerating, she could barely move, let alone drive, carry bags or sleep comfortably at night.
After Simi turned Vegan in April 2019, she saw a decline in her acute acid reflux and acidity, so much so that her migraines have now come down to NIL from having 1 every 3 weeks.
Seeing this, she forced Amrit to try, just try being Vegan for a month and as u know it, Amrit has been Vegan since.
Amrit, in 2020 started driving, jogging, exercising, even dancing. She even carried her own bags to Goa this time.
Coming to the present day, Amrit is now married and living the nomad life, while Simi is working on a Vegan cookbook @cookingdesivegan as she feels ppl make excuses that they can’t turn Vegan with so many ppl in the house not wanting to. Well guess what, all our recipes in the cookbook are something everyone can eat and take only about 30 mins to cook, it launches April 13th 2021, my 2 year Veganniversary.
We would love to know you guys better, comment below on where you’re from and what you do, also your hobbies.
Through our blog, instagram and youtube channel we hope to inspire everyone to face their fears and explore the world. We post scenic pictures about our experiences, must visits, reviews and Vegan recipes. The Covid-19 pandemic has forced us to explore our creative side even further and we have been regular chefs in our home kitchen.
